T here’s been an Anne of Green Gables quote floating around the internet lately that says, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” And I get it – October is beautiful and I’m happy to live in a world with Octobers, too.

This wasn’t always the sentiment when I was a teacher, though.

For a teacher, October can be the LONGEST, DARKEST month. It seems like October will never end.

The initial excitement and infatuation of the beginning of the year have worn off.

The honeymoon phase is over.

Behavior issues are starting to surface.

Thanksgiving break seems impossibly far away.

Oh yeah – and you still have 8 months of this to go.

For a teacher, October can be hard.

So I decided that the teachers in my life who are doing amazing work, changing life trajectories were deeply deserving of a little treat in the mail. Here’s what I put together for them:

I think nail polish can brighten any day – particularly this kind of nail polish. It’s officially my favorite drug store polish (and only for $1.99 a pop, so I can afford to stock up on all the colors AND spread the joy to all my friends). I’m telling you, Wet n Wild MegaLast is the way to go.

Is there anything better than a handwritten letter? Nope. (I made sure these were oozing with the encouragement that every teacher deserves.)

All the nail polishes, lined up like soldiers ready to go to battle. I spent the next day packaging these little guys so they could report for duty in some New Orleans mail boxes. I’ll show the finished product in my next post!

Do you have any teachers in your life? Go give them a big hug and high five for making it though October.
